FH Kufstein Tirol & TUNAP

Innovative partnership for the digitalization of automotive workshops: The cooperation is a vivid example of digital transformation through the use of web-based applications in the business-to-business (B2B) sector.

Digitalization in automotive workshops

It is our own ambition to constantly improve our products and services. We are therefore very pleased to present a project of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein and the IT department of TUNAP GmbH & Co. KG in the field of digital transformation for automotive workshops. Students have optimized and modernized a web application to offer a new digital service to automotive workshops.

An important part of the Web Business & Technology degree program at the FH Kufstein/Tirol, Austria is gaining practical experience through projects. In their first practical project, the students of the class of 2021 were entrusted with the modernization and reimplementation of an existing web application for automotive workshops. In addition to the physical product, TUNAP offers garages a digital service that creates added value for end customers.

During implementation, we placed particular emphasis on user-friendliness and meeting specific company requirements. To achieve this, the focus was on careful planning and implementation of the functionalities. Through weekly direct contact, we communicated changes, feedback and requests, which meant that TUNAP, as the client, was involved in the project and its status at all times. This agile approach was a basic requirement to ensure that our wishes were met. An important part of the project was also the execution of tests and quality controls to ensure that the application runs smoothly and meets the expectations of the users. Various test procedures were used for this purpose and extensive documentation was also created to ensure the maintainability and expandability of the application.

Overall, the teamwork was very successful and the application was completed within the planned timeframe and to the satisfaction of the client and handed over at the final presentation at the TUNAP site in Wolfratshausen, Germany.

The six-person development team consisted of Alpay Aksu, Philipp Mayer, Luca Hauer, Johanna Fasser, Philipp Haas and Julian Fliri, with Alpay Aksu taking on the role of project manager. On the part of TUNAP, Georg Weilbuchner (IT) had project responsibility, and from Marketing, Florian Wagner and department head Holger Hutter were part of the project team. The student team, which was accompanied during the process by Prof. (FH) Karsten Böhm, mastered the responsible task with confidence. Valuable experience in the field of software development was gained and it became clear how important close cooperation with the client is in order to complete the project development successfully and in a goal-oriented manner.

In the final presentation, for which the entire project team met in Wolfratshausen, TUNAP Managing Director Oliver Graetsch did not miss the opportunity to personally congratulate the project team on their success and emphasized how impressed he was with the efficient project progress.

The project represents a successful example of digital transformation through web-based technologies and applications in the business-to-business (B2B) sector and illustrates the potential of interdisciplinary collaboration between information technology, research, development and universities.
